What is CD Q-Sheet Converter?
CD Q-Sheet Converter is a specialized application for use in audio CD creation.
Its sole purpose is to assist with migrating a project from Sonic Foundry’s CD
Architect to another CD recording program. Why would one want to do this?
Simply, because CD Architect does not support the wide number of CD-R
drives that other programs support. Because Sonic Foundry has discontinued
CD Architect as a product more and more drives will appear that are
unsupported.
CD Architect remains, however, a superior authoring environment to many
current programs and is very desirable to use for creative purposes. One
feature of CD Architect not found in many other CD creation programs is
the ability to insert track markers into the middle of continuous audio content
such as live material. CD Architect also allows one to create
cross-fades by simply dragging tracks on top of one another.
By exporting the audio content created in CD Architect
as a single wave file, and also the track information, known as a cue
sheet or PQ List, another CD recording program can be
used to record the actual CD. There are, however, a few steps required. This is
where CD Q-Sheet Converter steps in, along with another program you will
need called CD Wave available at http://cdwave.com.
The sole purpose of Q-Sheet Converter is to convert
the cue sheet exported from CD Architect to a file compatible with CD
Wave. It’s a small task, but very important to making the process automated
and simple! Once the cue sheet information is in a format readable by CD
Wave, it is the job of CD Wave to use the cue sheet to split up the
project wave file into individual wave files, one for each track. This is also
a critical step because wave files can only be split at boundaries that match
up with the frame boundaries (1/72 second) on the final CD.
Once the audio is split into individual tracks, these track
files can be loaded into any CD recording program. The only caveat is that the
recording software must be capable of Disc-at-Once recording and must
not insert gaps between tracks (see list of known CD recording software below.)
If your recording software supports these features you will be able to record
CD’s exactly as CD Architect does, only you will do so with your
recording software that supports your CD-R drive!

The following programs are known to be capable of both
Disc-at-Once recording and turning off gaps between tracks:
